The Cal Poly Hellenic-American Organization is a relatively young club, being founded in 2002.
From its humble beginnings, the club has been dedicated to our mission statement, providing
Greeks and non-Greeks alike with a "social, cultural, and educational outlet."
The club was founded on Jan 3, 2002, by Stefanie Chapralis who served as our first president. The next school year (2002-2003), Chrisanthy Kalivitis took over as president, followed by Eileen Erdmann for the next two years (2003-2004, 2004-2005). ![]() Elias Panos, the acting club president for the 2005-2006 school year, recalls back to when he first arrived at Cal Poly in 2003, "I remember the first meeting of the year there were only five people there, and Eileen had to convince people to sign up for positions so we could still be recognized as a club." After struggling those first few years, we have grown to have a 40+ member roster with more than half the members being active in the club. The club is loosely affiliated with the St. Andrew the Apostle Greek Orthodox Mission in San Luis Obispo, and the Greek community of the Central Coast. |
